4. Teleconferencing

Teleconferencing is still in its infancy. However it has a strong potential to change the way we interact with others for personal and business purposes. Let me give you a few examples.

Many job interviews will be conducted via teleconference. Increasing number of students will take on line classes. Also drivers that got tickets for minor traffic violations might be offered an option to appear before the judge in front of their computers rather than in person.

5. Telecommuting

Many companies allow their employers to telecommute at least once a week. In the near future some employees will work full time from the comfort of their homes. If you are a programmer, data entry specialist or computer graphics designer, chances are that you won’t have to see your boss that much in the near future. The same is true for some salesmen and customer service representatives.

If you think this is unrealistic, think again… Some businesses employ IT and customer service personnel from other parts of the world. While they don’t work from home, they telecommute for all intensive purposes.

Telecommuting would provide great advantages to businesses. Companies will save on office space and utility costs. Eventually they may be able to eliminate certain management positions. Have you ever wondered if certain managers are of any use except for being pain in the…? Well, they would have to prove their worth in a new environment.

6. TV

Very soon you will be able to access Internet with your remote control. Most cable TV packages will be integrated with Internet.

Cable and satellite television services will also enable their clients to view programs they want in addition to scheduled programming. On Demand services are only beginning. In the future you’ll have more choices depending on your preferences. Let’s say you are a movie fan. You might be able to subscribe to a huge movie library for a monthly fee.

I think there will be specialized sports packages that offer more variety than similar packages of today. Other programming choices may include news channels from around the world, collection of old shows and music videos.

Bottom line is that you will have much more control over your entertainment choices than today.
